"I was just 15 when Nishat Ma'am called me to help open this school. I have been teaching here for over 30 years now."
Shabnam Rahman was born and raised in Rataul. She completed her schooling at Sant Mary Inter College and later earned her B.A. from Chaudhary Charan Singh University - all while teaching at Salma, a journey made possible by Nishat Ma'am's encouragement.
When Salma Public School opened its doors in 1993, Shabnam was its very first teacher. She was fifteen years old. Together with Nishat Ma'am, she went door to door in the village, inviting families to send their children - especially their daughters - to school. "People did not think educating girls was important," she recalls. "Slowly, they began to understand."
Over three decades, Shabnam has watched the school grow from a small coaching centre idea into an institution that has changed hundreds of lives. She remembers the excitement of Headstrong's visits and the warmth that Clearwater Analytics has brought in recent years. Today she is grateful for the support of Harsh Sir and Anurag Sir, and hopes the school continues to rise.
