"Salma is not just a school to me - it is a part of my heart, alive with memories, emotions and dreams."
Hira was born and raised in Rataul. She completed her primary education at Salma Public School - from LKG to Class 5 - before moving to Vidya Bhavan Public School Khekra for her high school and then to Sant Mary Inter College for her intermediate. She is now pursuing her B.A.
Almost her entire family has passed through Salma's classrooms. Her siblings, cousins and even one of her aunts taught at this very school. For Hira, returning here as a teacher is the fullest circle.
She describes Principal Sheeba Ma'am as a true inspiration - not just for academics, but for confidence and courage. She remembers the pride of receiving "Good" and "Excellent" marks on her cursive writing practice. She also speaks tenderly of Zahoor Sir and Nishat Ma'am - their affection, she writes, has stayed in her heart long after school.
Hira notes the transformation of the school's physical space: classrooms that once had bare brick walls now have plaster, fresh paint, clean floors and proper lighting. "This is the work of Harsh Sir, Anurag Sir and Clearwater," she says with gratitude. She has joined with enthusiasm and looks forward to being part of everything the school does next.
